New Book Cover!
Still on reviving my bookshop, I've decided to change the structure of my handmade books so that it looks a little more polished (to me, at least).
My first go at it is a book I'm making for a friend's child. The cover you can see at the lower righthand corner. I covered thick paper with red gingham, to which I first applied wheat paste. (This little recipe I got from Michelle Maule's great blog.) For different books, I plan to use different fabrics, of course.
The sewing technique for the spine I got from a how-to book.
What do you all think: yay or nay?

It looks beautiful but I really love the "rough" look of your books. It makes them so uniquely you!
i like your 'rough' looks too Pomme but in saying that why not have both? they are equally unique and beautiful and appeal to a wide audience :)
i love my original books ...you made ... stitched covers ...
so beautiful ....
maybe the gingham for childrens stories?..
ohh... what happened? I wanted to edit my comment, but I dont speak French, so I guess I clicked the wrong button :-)
So: I said, YAY! This new type is a kind of happy-rustic for me, and I like that style.
I think customised is beter pomme depending of the story and you must will come up with something what are going to do with the cover!
Love these! Books, handbinding, stories, art, collage, it combines all of these things. Yummy!
hhmmmm... I like the new but I think your "old" is more unique, creative and more Pomme.
That is a very pretty little book! I love the gingham. I also like your freestyle books, but I think there's room for both, too!
