Season's Greetings

Too corny, too cute, but you know us crazy cat ladies--we can't help ourselves! On behalf of everyone over here, including mini Apol, mini Pierre, and beautiful but grumpy Dolly, Luna sends you her best wishes:

Eat, drink, be merry, and don't forget to give lots of hugs!

******

And thank you so much to Patricia of Crafty Synergy and Holly of decor8 for the recent writeups on me and my works in their respective sites. You girls make me so ho-ho-happy! (I promise to stop with the words foolishness now.)

If I had to describe my mood these days, it would be dreamy and creative (at least, I would like to think so). Knowing that, you'll see why for this weekend's Shopping List Saturday, I chose these nine wonderful objects:

Quick Update and A Sale!

I'm taking it slow on the online life at the moment as I'm in the thick of many things, foremost among them proofreading my book of essays (that my publisher promises will come out soon), writing new stories, learning how to make desserts, and preparing my new line of La Pomme goodies for 2009!

I'm very excited about what's coming up soon in my shop. It's all about hand-printing and freehand machine embroidery for the new year. I'll be introducing a new line of functional items, like pillowcases and kitchen towels, but there will still be lots of dolls and plushies, of course.

In keeping with the new year spirit, let it be out with the old and in with the new! So I'm having a little year-end sale. Lots of cute stuff at 35- to 40-percent off. Click here to see.

Living in a Tower

A most generous gift has mini Apol, mini Pierre, and their mini sheep now living in a tower. Mini Pierre was at first hesitant to call the place home, because it certainly wasn't his name embroidered on the door. However the fine construction won him over, and mini Apol fell in love with the place as soon as she saw the mini apples growing all over.
With much excitement they ran to the top, to look down and exclaim, "Oh, how high!" (Almost everything has this effect on the couple, since they are only about an inch tall.)
They didn't have time to enjoy the view, as there was knocking on the door. Back on terra firma, they discovered their neighbors all lined up, eager for a tower tour.

How cute is my gift from Intres!

The European Street Team held a Secret Santa event for the holidays, where we each got to give a gift to a member and receive one from another, all done in much secrecy, according to the clever organization of Wonder Mitsy.

I was Secret Santa to Gretchen of Chichiboulie. A day after my gift to her arrived, I got mine from Intres. We have never crossed paths on Etsy, except for the times I'd go to her shop to admire her meticulous felt work, so I was floored that she went through a fantastic amount of effort to make my gift!

It's a felt tower with my name embroidered on it, and with little apples on pins sprouting all over. She also sent me a note that I found very sweet. I am so enamored of my little tower. Thank you so much, Intres!

Shop Local France

And now it can be told: The reason my Shopping List Saturday was so brief was because I was also at the same time looking for 21 beautiful items for Etsy's blog The Storque. They had asked me to put together Shop Local France, and I had fun not just looking through all the shops based here, but also getting to know the faces behind the shop names. What are you still doing here? Go look! :)

Walking in Cold Weather

I've heard it said many times that blogging gives you the urge to do the strangest things. For example, take a photo of your shoes while you're out for a little walk in the old city.

Saturday Shopping List

This is going to be short and sweet, but a visual treat nonetheless! Today my Shopping List is all about cuteness. (Just a quick look at my shop and you'll know that I have a passion for it :D). These are the four items that made me go "Awwwwww, that's sweet!" over the past six days:

(Clockwise from top left) Bird Prayer Flags by Flederhaus, Hope by Sweet Nellie, Tag You're It by Heidi Burton, Yellow Knitted Flower Keychain by Deep Indigo

Embroidered Drawings

I really love the look of freehand machine embroidery. It's naive, but fun and modern too. I've been experimenting doing it on paper on and off the past few weeks, but was never completely happy with the results. A couple of days ago, I unearthed a stack of handmade paper a friend had given me. The texture was great, all fibrous and supple, and I knew immediately what I wanted to do with it.My embroidered drawings are now available in my book shop.
