Robot Love

Hey, hey, after a slight delay, Philippine Speculative Fiction IV is out! (It was supposed to have been on the bookshelves late last year.) It's an anthology of short stories, written by Filipinos, published in the Philippines, telling weird and wacky tales.

I have a piece in there called "The Sewing Project," and I swear it's not about what I do on Etsy.

Launch details, stolen from Dean's blog, along with the cover photo above:

Pretty Please

I don't much care for clothes and shoes shopping. I have an idea of what I need, I go to the shop that I know stocks it, then I'm in and out, usually in less than 30 minutes. I've been told I'm a very boring shopping companion.

But bring me to a flea market or a crafts shops, and come back to pick me up tomorrow! I can spend hours looking through and buying fabric and all kinds of sewing notions. Recently, I promised myself that before I go acquire anything else, I should use up at least a third of my existing supplies. (Good luck to me, right?)

So this weekend, I looked through my boxes (and boxes) of lace and ribbons, and put some of my stash to use.

Spools of grosgrain inspired me to veer away from the usual nautical reds, whites, and blues of my plush sailboats. This time I made them in pastel tones, with hearts and flowers to complete the soft and pretty feel I was going for. The first of these are already up at the shop.

After the last of the sails had been hoisted, I opened my big box of vintage lace. That led to me giving my Sleep Angels a sort of Victorian makeover. What do you think?

Small Surprise

I got a nice little surprise the other day when Devi told me that my plush flowers are in the spring 09 issue of Small magazine. They're in the spread called "Small Something."

If you don't know Small already, then you should definitely look through it, subscribe even! It's an electronic magazine devoted to all things -- you guessed it -- small, for kids; but many times leafing through its pages, I find things even grownups will fall in love with.

The styling is fresh, the photographs and illustrations beautiful, the sections inspring. Fan here, obviously :) Go look!

P.S. My guessing game giveaway is still going on! Scroll down to the post below or click here.

Guess What?

What fruit is this part of?

Come on, let go and take a wild guess! Post your answers in the Comments section of this post.

If you really need a clue, then know that I am having a love affair with this edible at the moment.

Everyone who answers right will have his or her name put in my magic muffin-making Pyrex bowl one week from now (that's next Thursday, 26 February). Then I'll say "Abracadabra!" and draw the name of the winner.

The winner will get our Mystery Fruit. A little post-Valentine giveaway. Just because it's bright and sunny today, and I am feeling good! (Hint no. 2 right there.)

P.S. If your comment doesn't lead back to a blog, please make sure to leave me your e-mail address, or any other electronic way of contacting you. Thanks.

All You Need Is...

After my Inspiration Apples come... the Love Pears.

Lightning struck while I was having breakfast this morning and after the coffee and the cereals found myself munching on -- you guessed it -- a pear.

What do you think?

P.S. And are you getting tired of the handstamping already? (Because I'm not!)

An addition to the post below: I am totally infatuated with my new hand-stamped tote!
